Why Holiday Volunteers?

In these changing times, many of us have a strong desire to help those less fortunate than themselves. But we also have commitments that prevent us from dedicating many weeks or even months required by most volunteer programs.

So we have organised programs with aid agencies where volunteers can make a difference in a short time. You, and others in your group of volunteers will together provide the equivalent of two months work for the aid agency. You can rest assured that your input has provided essential support in parts of the world that need help.

We have combined the ‘work week’ with a ‘rest week’ in an internationally-known resort. The reasons are many:

• You get the best of both worlds - to do something meaningful and also have a holiday.
• By combining everyhint into one package, it becomes very affordable.
• You meet like-minded people during the ‘work week’ and share great experiences with them.
• You enjoy yourself!

The program

Holiday Volunteers offers travel programs that comprise one part volunteer work at an approved charity-related site, and a second part a relaxing stay at an internationally-known resort. Generally this is a two-week program with approximately 7-10 days volunteer work and the remainder at the resort. The locations of the work and resort are in different parts of the same country or region.

We provide the two-week package from a specified ‘meeting location’ in the destination country. In general the ‘meeting location’ is in the capital city of the destination country. Some programs will require air travel to the site location, and this will be organised by Holiday Volunteers and included in the overall package.

We offer some air fare options to the destinations, but booking flights is the responsibility of the volunteers themselves.

Volunteers will be given tasks - by an onsite ‘co-ordinator’ related to the aid agency - the day after their arrival. They will be accommodated and provided three meals daily during their ‘work week’, but the standards of both may not be at international levels. During the ‘rest week’, accommodation-only is provided. Volunteers will pay an inclusive sum for the two weeks covering all transfer costs from the specified location in the destination country, and accommodation and subsistence costs in the ‘work week’ and accommodation in the ‘rest week’. Air costs to the destination are not generally included.

Cost

The approximate cost for a two-week program excluding air fare, is US$1200-1600, dependent on various factors.
